Click as fast as you can for 5 seconds

How to Use the CPS Test

Testing your click speed is simple:

  • Choose your timer — Select 1, 5, 10, or 30 seconds.
  • Click the green area to start. The timer begins on your first click.
  • Click as fast as you can until the timer runs out.
  • Your CPS (clicks per second) score is calculated automatically.

For the most accurate results, use a 5 or 10 second test. The 1-second test measures burst speed, while 30 seconds tests endurance.

Click Speed Techniques

Regular Clicking

Standard mouse clicking with your index finger. Most people achieve 4-7 CPS with this method. It offers the most control and accuracy but the lowest speed.

Jitter Clicking

Tense your arm and hand muscles to create rapid vibrations that translate into clicks. This technique achieves 10-14 CPS. It takes practice to maintain aim while jitter clicking. Be careful of hand strain with prolonged use.

Butterfly Clicking

Alternate between your index and middle fingers on the mouse button, creating a rapid two-finger rhythm. Skilled users achieve 15-25 CPS. This technique requires a mouse that can register rapid successive clicks — not all mice support it.

Drag Clicking

Drag your finger across the mouse button so the friction creates multiple click registrations. This can achieve extremely high CPS (30+) but requires specific mouse models with textured buttons and isn't allowed in most gaming competitions.

Why CPS Matters in Gaming

Click speed is crucial in several gaming contexts:

  • Minecraft PvP: Higher CPS means more hits per second in combat. 8-12 CPS gives a significant advantage in 1v1 fights.
  • Competitive shooters: Semi-automatic weapons benefit from faster trigger fingers. Games like Fortnite and Valorant reward click speed.
  • Clicker games: Games like Cookie Clicker are literally about clicking fast.
  • Speed challenges: Many online competitions track CPS as a competitive metric.

Frequently Asked Questions

The average CPS is 6-7 clicks per second with regular clicking. A score of 8-10 CPS is considered good, 10-14 CPS is fast (achievable with jitter clicking), and 15+ CPS is exceptional (typically using butterfly clicking). The world record is over 16 CPS sustained for 10 seconds.
CPS stands for Clicks Per Second. It measures how many times you can click your mouse button in one second. CPS is commonly used as a metric in gaming, especially Minecraft PvP, where faster clicking provides combat advantages like more hits and less knockback.
You can increase your CPS through practice and different techniques: jitter clicking (tensing your arm to vibrate, 10-14 CPS), butterfly clicking (alternating two fingers, 15-25 CPS), or drag clicking (dragging across the button, 30+ CPS). A gaming mouse with a responsive sensor also helps.
Yes, significantly. Gaming mice with lower debounce times, mechanical switches, and textured buttons can register clicks faster. Popular choices for CPS tests include mice from Logitech, Razer, and Glorious. The click switch type (Omron, Kailh, optical) affects response time.
Using auto-clicker software is considered cheating in CPS tests and is banned in most gaming competitions. Auto-clickers can achieve 50-100+ CPS, which is physically impossible for humans. Our test measures genuine human clicking speed.
Most gaming mice are rated for 20-80 million clicks and can handle rapid clicking. However, aggressive techniques like drag clicking can wear out mouse buttons faster. Jitter clicking can also cause hand strain — take breaks if you feel discomfort.
